I was suppose to start Geodon 2 weeks ago and I still haven't. The whole drop in blood pressure thing scares me to death. I was on a med last summer that caused this when I bent down and stood up but I cannot remember what it was.
I take clonidine for high blood pressure and the two mixed scares me too.
I also read that it can cause manic episode. This I don't need. Trust me.
I am already on Lamictal and Topamax but they just are not doing the job. It says in the pamplet it is for Schizophrenia...I have PTSD,Bi-polar,Borderline personality and Dissociative disorder. Can it help the symptoms of these diagnosis?
What do you know about this drug??
What does this drug do...physical symptoms,side-effects,weight gain, etc.?
What are the main uses?
Will it help me sleep?? I never sleep.
I should have asked my PDOC more but I was zoning out at the time. I truly appreciate any info you can give me. I have researched it on the web but personal experiences are truly the best source of info......THE EGG

I took Geodon for a bit because I was freaking out that I would gain weight on Risperdal. I was taking Geodon as a mood stabilizer (I'm Borderline too), to help with my self injury problem. It didn't help me much. It did not cause any weight gain though. The one thing I didn't like was I felt like if I didn't take it at scheduled times, I would feel weird. I took it twice a day and if I was late on the 2nd dose, I would feel kind of spacy and see things out of the corners of my eyes, like flashes. My p-doc says he hasn't had many patients find much luck on it, but it's always worth a try.

Eggy,
I used Geodon for over a year and it had no side effects whatsoever for me. I took it daily and nothing worked better for my daily manic/anxiety episodes in the afternoon. The only reason I am not on it now is that it is over $300 per month and I currently do not have insurance. That's one very expensive part of a cocktail.
If you have insurance, I would strongly urge you to give it a try. It won't take weeks for you to figure out. If it's not right for you, you'll most likely know right away.
Best of health to you.
Karen
