Hi. Yes, I was on that combo (with clonazepam and a beta blocker). It was pretty good overall. I don't have social phobia, but I do have anxiety. I had to stop it because my white blood cell count dropped a little - this is a possible side effect of neurontin. Otherwise I'd have kept it. I lost some mood control after stopping it, so it did give me a little extra mood stabilization as well as gentle anxiety control.

Umm...didn't gain an ounce. Of course I never exceeded 900 mg and was only at 600 a lot of the time. I take you've gained on neurontin?

I think the weight issue is one of the toughest things about psychotropic meds. You feel crummy to begin with, and then the medicine that's supposed to help you also plumps you up. Yucko. I can't recall what others may have said about neurontin and weight gain, but if my experience is typical, then it might be okay for you. Have you discussed Topomax with your pdoc? Everyone raves about how good it is weight-wise. Good luck.
