Yellowish tinge to everything

Posted by linkadge on May 11, 2003, at 1:38:25

I am taking Celexa and Lithium. Since adding the lithium, everything has a yellowish tinge to it. It kind of makes things look ugly, and scarry.

Does anyone know how/why this happens ??

Have you had a slit-lamp eye exam before? This may be way-off, but you might consider getting your retinas checked out. Also, you might check each eye one at a time carefully to see if one eye has that effect more than another. I have one retina that is pigmented from taking Mellaril. You also mentioned previously about having some bad vertigo/balance probs. Have those gotten any better? Lithium causes some quirky things to happen when I took it as well. I noticed scale distortions (primarily), and a very weird occasional "black spot" in my peripheral vision that would suddenly appear and then "close up" and then disappear.

No I am still having all sorts of problems.

The main effect I get is the 'floor dropout'
effect. You know how when your going down stairs
in the dark and you think you've reached the last
step when there's really one more.

I have that happen about 6 times an hour.
As well as another host of effects, I have
this tinge problem. Things are crystal white
after I take the Celexa, but then when I take the lithium everything goes crimson/yellow.

I just hate this with a passion, cause my mood has never been better.

Well, I for sure had vertigo weirdnesses when I was on Prozac and Lithium. Geez, at least you are feeling pretty decent otherwise. It almost sounds like a possible postural hypotension thing of some sorts. I wonder if extra hydration might help? You might want to consider getting a blood pressure machine and just checking it every so often to see what is going on.
