Hi, I am new at this so bare with me.
I was on Celexa for 2 1/2 years and my doctor changed me over to Lexapro about 1- 1 1/2 months ago. Ever since I have started it I am so hungry. I am like a bottomless pit and I have put on 3-5 pounds already. I feel like I am the only one experiencing these side effects. I was on Celexa and I absolutely loved it. I had no side effects. My doctor used to give me free samples of Celexa b/c it was to expensive on my insurance and now he only has Lexapro samples therefore, I was switched to this. I am also on Wellbutrin SR for 2 1/2 years. I definately did not experience weight gain with that for the past couple of years. I just hope there is someone out there who can relate to how I am feeling with Lexapro.
Thanks for listening..

ive switched from prozac to lex just this past week and i can TOTALLY understand the bottomless pit thing! the first few days i was super super hungry, and i ate when i was hungry, but the choices i made on lexapro are way better than the choices i made on prozac regarding food - prozac had me crying for simple carbs and only sweet doughy stuff would do. on lexapro, i crave full meals to satisfy my hunger, and as a result i have lost 2 lbs this week alone -
interesting huh?

I have not gained weight on Lexapro. I have read that cutting down on carbs and increasing protein is good for weight loss. When you eat carbs, you keep feeling hungry. From what I have read, it's best to keep your meals to roughly 2/3 protein and 1/3 carbs. Don't worry about the fat component.

> Trisha> Trisha, Yes, I have also gained with Lexapro. I don't notice much that is different during the day, although I do notice that I drink much less fluids. I never feel thirsty. But after dinner, whoa.....I am scrounging around for sweets ... cookies, ice cream, chocolate, chips ... total junk food. I'd do a bit of this before Lexapro, but now I consistently am on the sweets prowl and have gained five pounds in the past two months. I can't seem to get off the carb binge and blame it on the Lexapro. (But how do I really know it's that and not something else?)
