Has anyone had positive experiences with Inositol for OCD -- or is this treatment just bunk?
TIA

Well I do know it has potent antidepressant
effects. I would definately think there is
merit to these studies claims. For me it improved sleep, mood and confidents,
I would give it a try.Linkadge

Where do you purchase it? How much is the cost per dosage?
Thanks,

>Inositol can be purchased at any health food store. For more info on what's available and prices, go to: http://www.iherb.com/store.html .Enter inositol into the search line and you will find a long list of products available there.

my god 12 grams!!! that is such a massive dose that it is scarry.
I am sure it will affect your liver and kidney.
I mean 12 grams is a ridiculous number. It just seems to much.

That is the dosage used in some studies. I've seen the recommended dosage to be between 8-12 grams.

I think Inositol is fairly safe, I've taken doses of up to 18 grams and suffered no ill effects other than diarea.
I think that in some of the studies they went this high.

> I think that in some of the studies they went this high.Outsider, since you have tried taking the 18 grams, i was curious if you could anser the following:
Did the inositol help you with your OCD? If so, how much?
Did you do behavior therapy in addition to taking the inositol?
How many weeks did you try 18 grams/day of inositol (I've read it takes 6 weeks or more before you see benefits)?
Did the side effect of diarrhea go away after awhile, and if so how long?
Did you start out at a lower dosage and build up to the 18 grams over a period of weeks (to minimize the side effects)?
Did you notice any other side effects?
Based on your experience, would you recommend that someone give inositol a try?
I personally have been taking Inositol for about 3 weeks now. Currently at 9 grams/day, working up the 18. Haven't noticed any real benefit yet. However everything I have read says it is too early. Just trying to get info from others who have actually tried it to see if they recommend trying it, and how long it took to see results.
thanks in advance
