Going to try Focalin

Posted by JohnDoenut on February 6, 2003, at 22:29:14

Hello! I have not been here in awhile. I could not do a search on Focalin here since Dr. Bob turned it off but I searched the site with Google and found a few interesting posts. Anyway I had been using Adderal for many months now but something happened to change my biorythym or something and it just started making me tired. So I went back to the Ritalin I had and it worked nicely. I was able to get a Focalin scrip from my pdoc to try it and hopefully it will be smoother with less side effects. However I went to the pharmacy and they didnt have any and said it would take a week to get it and I said fine. Cause I can take the Ritalin in the meantime! I feel I have to spread my scrips around a few drugstores so I dont get any weird looks. So Ill let you know how it goes.
I still take Neurontin to good effect however I have lowered my dose from about what was 600 to 900mg in the morning to about 450mg (cutting them) because I felt overmedicated and overdrugged. P*HíJof the biorythym change I dont know.

For me, Focalin works like caffeine would work for someone with no tolerance -- it's slightly stimulating and only lasts a few hours. However, I'm currently taking 5mg in the morning with my Concerta 18mg (extended release Ritalin) to augment my antidepressants and get me going. It seems to be working, I just have to force myself to get out of bed and take it.
