It worked! Took the Zoloft last night instead of this morning, and you were right, only a bit of nausea today, much better than before.! GEEZ, why didn't I think of that? LOL! Thanks so much for the tip. Saw the pdoc today. She says the nausea could be a combo of the Remeron withdrawel and Zoloft together. She added Seroquel, 25 or 50 (my choice) to my Restoril to get me to sleep. I sure hope it works, I am getting really sleep deprived. She upped the Zoloft from 25 to 50 mgs. to take care of the anxiety/depression left from discontinuing the Remeron. I hope I can tolerate the increased dosage. Do you know if Seroquels anti-anxiety benefits last all day or just for the hours after the dose? I have tried it before, but found it too sedatin for daytime use. I tried to get her to prescribe me a new benzo, I don't care for the Ativan and she wouldn't.

RBL, I'm glad changing the Zoloft dosage timing helped you out. I'm surprised that your pdoc didn't let you continue with a nighttime schedule of Zoloft(at the same dosage) for a week to see if it had some consistency before adding in the Seroquel (and upping the Zoloft dose). However, you said that your "nausea" problem was helped, but you didn't mention anything about your ability to get to sleep and stay asleep being improved by the dosage timing switch of the Zoloft. Did you still have some trouble with sleep? AP's all have anti-nausea effects (because of the D2 blockade), and Seroquel can hammer you (sedation-wise) into sleeping like a rock. That's my guess-she added the Seroquel to combat the increased nausea/insomnia of the Zoloft increase despite the timing of the dosage. I would try just 25mg. Seroquel knocked me on my ass big time. It took until midday the next day on 25mg hs dosing to be able to do simple addition. I *liked* the *rebound* effect of the Seroquel however later in the following day (following nightime only dosing). I'm just not an AP fan I guess.

Taking the Zoloft at night didn't help with the sleep at all. I only slept 5 hours last night. I am one of those people that need 8 hours to function properly. At this point I am so tired I would take ANYTHING to get to sleep! LOL! I'm just afraid what is going to happen to my moods when I get chronically sleep deprived. Last year I discontinued Celexa cold turkey (BIG BIG mistake!!), went sleep deprived for weeks and ended up hallucinating and being put into a psych hospital for the first time in my life. I don't need a repeat of that, if ya know what I mean. I have read quite a bit about AP's. What is your opinion on using them daily? I used to take Risperdal for anxiety, but gave it up, it wasn't helping that much.

Oh, I see. Well, I like to get 7 hrs in myself on a routine basis! As far as AP's go-that is highly individual. If *you* are fully aware of the risks of long-term use then give them a go if they are clearly helping, IMO. Just bear in mind that the high-potency ones like Haldol and Risperdal (i.e.), have a much higher risk of EPS symptoms. Seroquel is fairly mild in that respect-however I *still* got some dystonia from taking that one. In my case, I am just as concerned about their effects on hormones (thyroid/prolactin), cognitive functioning, and weight gain issues. If I was trying to get to sleep and that was my primary issue (and we are dealing with bipolar here), AND any psychosis is secondary only to the sleep deprivation, I would try Neurontin or Topamax before I went to an AP--just an opinion here. ;)

Last night I took 25 mgs. of Seroquel before bed. BOY did it knock me out! It is 24 hours later and I am STILL dragging my butt! She did give it to me for sleep, I don't need a med for psychosis. I am not fond of taking it for sleep either. I think what I will try is to use a 1/4 tablet maybe just for a few more weeks will my body adjusts to the med changes, and then see if just using the Restoril will be enough. Or maybe there is something else for sleep that would be better than Restoril? Know of anything good? Even taking a double dose right now of Restoril isn't keeping me asleep. Upped the Zoloft last night, no nausea (thanks to you!).

Seroquel will knock you down like a ton of bricks for sure. I've got some 25mg tabs I keep around just in case I have some kind of major wigout that isn't a panic related thing that would involve super hostility and/or paranoia (but that hasn't happened in a couple of years and Depakote works fine for my anger probs.). I used to crack the 25mg tabs in half and take them a couple of hours before bedtime so I wouldn't be "hungover" so badly in the mornings. It takes about 12 hrs for the med to start to really back off the D2 receptors (that's why it is typically prescribed 2-3x daily for psychosis). I always noticed a "rebound" effect of heightened sense of alertness and focus about from about 16-24hrs postdosing (which was actually somewhat helpful at work). I would bring up the idea of Neurontin or Topamax for sleep to your pdoc. Right now I am taking Depakote+Trileptal+Klonopin at bedtime and I sleep OK, but of the "mood stabilizers" the two that konked me out the best were Neurontin and TOP. 15mg of Topamax was all I ever needed, it just had a little too long of a half-life and I was too groggy the next day. Neurontin wears off quick in the mornings and I always woke up in a good mood. hope this helps.

I am going to ask her about the Top and Neurontin. I tried the taking a quarter of 25 mgs. of Seroquel last night, still had a bad hangover effect all day from it. It's history! LOL! Can't stand the stuff. I'm going to call her tomorrow and get something else for sleep. Besides, I am paranoid the Seroquel will add to my Remeron weight gain (which I should add, is NOT coming off yet, UGH!!!).

I don't know if you have ever tried Neurontin or not, but it kicks pretty hard at first for some people. If you aren't real med sensitive probably 300mg at bedtime would do the trick (if it is going to). Topamax kicks harder than that, so I wouldn't suggest more than 25mg at bedtime to start off with, or you will likely get a "hangover" from that one. If I was working physical instead of cubicle jobs again I would probably reconsider TOP (there is also the possibility of significant weight loss from TOP). good luck!
