Dear all,
I'm glad that my topic on fish oil as being the new antidepressant has generated such a tremendous amount of response, both negative and positive in here.It is a confirmation that my depression has lifted completely in a weeks time after taking 5000mg of EPA and DHA daily. It is fish oil that I'm taking, not cod liver oil. This healing has been proven to be true in many other cases. If you have trouble sleeping, I suggest taking trazodone, an anti-depressant that makes you sleep peacefully at night. I take 50mg trazodone at night for sleeping.
Maybe the fish oil helps a bit with my OCD I'm not sure. I'm taking 0.5 mg clonazepam in addition to my 80mg generic prozac (apo-fluoxetine). Maybe these 3 work together well.
If you have anything relating to fish oil, clonazepam and prozac (generic and non-generic), pls do post here.Meanwhile, I'm thinking of starting a petition letter for a start on large scale studies of fish oil on OCD. Pls support this petition and get things started.
Thanks! and Praise God! Thank you Jesus!

The psychological effects of Lithium were known for years before it began to be used in clinical bipolar disorder. EPA and DHA have clinical effect weather or not drug companies agree. It is time that studies be done, that suplements become better quality and cheaper, and that people start learning that this is an effective

I'm glad you're finding Babble helpful in discussions about fish oil. It has, just FYI, been discussed at great length here for a very long time. I tried the Eskimo-3 oil this past summer as a result of advocacy here by a few people. It didn't have the remedial effect I'd hoped for, but I'm taking it again because it most definitely affects LDL cholesterol levels.

I've just taken the fourth teaspoon today of the liquid Eskimo-3, and I'm amazed at how much better it tastes to me than it did when I tried fish oil supplementation this past summer. It's amazing how our taste buds change, maybe even with the seasons.
Last time, it tasted so bad to me I literally choked it down, and ergo, perhaps didn't give it a long enough trial. This time, it tastes just fine! And it's a brand new bottle, so it's not because it aged or anything.
Hmmm.

Waow...interesting stuff about the fish oil. I'm not sure what those particular initials stand for, but I have never heard of them. Can anyone enlighten me as to how you buy them? Maybe they go under a different name in UK? I have been taking codliver oil daily (1000mg) but haven't noticed much improvement. Anyone know what particular brand I should try? And what dosage? Is this something to do with Omega 3/ 6?
Thanks,
Fee

enlighten me as to how you buy them?In Singapore, we can get them from health stores like Guardian pharmacy, watson's, GNC and nature's farm.

Cod liver oil contains high levels of vitamin A. You will overdose. Switch to pure fish oils that contain only EPA, DHA and vitamin E.
Anyone know what particular brand I should try?
try to find brands that contain high concentrations of EPA and DHA. Those that contain 180mg EPA and 120mg DHA are considered low concentration.
And what dosage? Is this something to do with Omega 3/ 6?Yes, omega 3 plays a part here. I'm taking 5,000 mg of EPA and DHA. (note that this is not the weight of the capsules, but the actual amount of EPA and DHA)
Good luck,
