Believe me, at some point you have to ask yourself, when can one no longer afford *not* to be hospitalized. The first time in an inpatient program is generally covered at least for the most part by all major insurers. Simply find out what the best hospital is in your area, and proceed to the emergency room. It's scary, but once you're admitted you'll feel like a weight is lifted off your shoulders. Just don't do what I did and leave too soon. Take full advantage of the doctors and therapy programs and make sure you're well on your way to recovery before you leave.

My 2 cents,
Jim

when is if you are a danger to yourself or others.

how- do you have private insurance? most cover up to 30 day stays, but 1-2 weeks is more common. county hospitals have to take someone who presents in the er and fulfills the requirements of 'when'.

take care, judy

Ah, so no sick time. Check with HR when short-term disability kicks in (I think it's a week), that is usually a state funded program good luck, judy

Financial worry can really make the situation feel more desperate. It will make any situation feel awful whether it is or not (not passing any judgement whatsoever on your particular situation). It can be hard to see the options.

If I can make a suggestion: see a regular general practitioner doctor or nurse practitioner and discuss this issue. (if you can't handle the fee at the moment there are free clinics). Be completely honest about what's going on and your concerns about your health possibly worsening and where you could get help. There are some safety nets out there and they can help you find them. There are always options.

Hang in there. There are many people with no insurance. An ER will not turn you away if you think you will hurt yourself or someone else.
