Hello,
Does anyone have any Prozac withdrawal stories they wish to share with me? I want to stop taking meds now, I don't know If this is a good idea, but I just want to be free of all this.
Was coming of Prozac that bad ? Did you have to go back on it again ?

I was only taking 20mg at the time. Please...we are all different, check with your pdoc before stopping any drug "cold turky". The general belief is Prozac has such a long half life you usually don't experience the withdrawal common to the other SSRIs.
Best wishes,

I didn't have the physical withdrawal symptoms like
people take about with paxil and effexor, but it takes
about a month or so to get out of your system, and about
that time, a month or so later, my depression came back.

Prozac is so much easier to stop than the other SSRIs. In fact, it is given to people getting off short half life ADs like like Paxil and Zoloft to lessen their withdrawal effects.

I withdrew from Prozac back in 1992, just stopped cold turkey after being on it for 3 yrs, no side affects or withdrawal symptoms. I was fine for 9 mos then the depression hit again and Prozac was reinstated. I had zero benefit from it the second time around and was put on Paxil after a cpl of months. I really wish now that I had never stopped the Prozac, I thought I was "cured" and wouldn't need to continue taking anti-dep. I think stopping the Prozac started my rollar coaster ride with the other anti-depressants through the years since then. I should have left well enough alone.
