Another question from Joanie

If you read my message above, got one more question. With all the medications I am taking (listed on previous post), is it safe to take something like Xenadrine or some sort of diet supplement to help lose weight? If so, what would you recommend?

While not a drug interaction, it is possible any stimulating diet supplement would make you anxious, like a lot of caffeine.

As far as hormones go, too much or too little of most hormones can affect weight, definitely. Have you had them all checked to make sure they are in the normal ranges? That might be a place to start. There are many different hormone replacement combination therapies and one might be better for you than another -- ask your doctor about the options.

I know from personal experience klonopin is very hard to get off of. If you do want to decrease it I've heard it recommended to decrease by only a quarter of the daily dose you take every couple weeks. For example, if you took 1 mg per day you would get the 0.5 mg pills and take .75 mg for two weeks, then 0.5 mg for two weeks, etc. Withdrawal could be seen as a diet -- I'm sure the stress of getting off of klonopin would be slimming.

As far as being safe, it is probably ok to combine a stimulating diet pill with prozac and klonopin. Ask a pharmacist to be sure.
