No, I think do not exist AD without sexual side effects (low libido or impotence or anaorgasmia).
You could try to add Buspirone (BusPar) to your SSRI therapy.
Thanks for offering 1.000.000.000 $, but actually i do not need them (LOL).
Bye

Why not try lower than therapeutic doses of each, TCA and SSRI? It may reduce side effects and still help with depression...

I don't think there is an SSRI or TCA without these side effects...sucks, eh?

There are other antidepressants (without sexual side effects) in addition to Remeron, Lamictal, and Wellbutrin, however -- namely: Tianeptine (Stablon)- a european AD, and Reboxetine (Edronax).

Amineptine (Survector), which is not marketed anymore because of high abuse potential was a tricyclic and a dopamin reuptake inhibitor. It not only didn't cause any bad sexual side effects, but also it boosted the libido.

Hi...

Nefazodon (Serzone)

Reboxetin ( Edronax)

All moodstabilizer.

Pramipex (Mirapex) All dopaminergical meds, often even improve the sexual function. Good alternative as an add on to ssri.

SAM-e

Aurorix

Mirtazapine (Remeron) Very good as an add on to ssri, for improvment of the sexual improvment, even desire.

Tolvon.

It´s so individual in responding the different medication, so one most try. Trial and error.

Sorry for bad spelling, etc. I´m not from U.S

Sincerely

//Petters

Wellbutrin

Wellbutrin. Still had the sex drive when I was only on Wellbutrin with my Depakote. Once I started adding SSRIs to the mix, my drive went down the tubes. Now I'm just on Wellbutrin (and Depakote) and my sex drive is coming back!!!

I keep hearing/reading about Remeron. I mentioned it to my pysch. who has never prescribed it before, and isn't really open to trying it at this point. I'm finally getting some benefit from Effexor (after going through half a dozen with no benefit) but like all the rest, it is severely affecting my sex live, specifically anorgasmia. I'm on 150mg of Wellbutrin to help with the anorgasmia, but with absolutely no benefit.

I'm interested in some of these others mentioned, like Lamitcal which I've seen the name but don't know much about, and Reboxetine (Edronax) which is completey new to me.

Hi...

Wellbutrin is often not so good for deleyed orgasm. It can improve the desire. Lamictal is great for depression, but will not improve the sexual side effect.

Most patient on Effexor, like the combo with Remeron. With this strategi you can also decrese the Effexor. I´m sure that you will have some benefit from the combo.

Go for it...!! Don´t hesitate. I know the combo very well, for severel years.

Sincerely...//Petters

Serzone, Wellbutrin, Reboxetine, and Remeron. I've taken all of these with very little sexual problems but none of them, by themselves, worked for my depression. To be fair, I only took Reboxetine about two days. Felt like my heart was going to explode and I started at a very low dose.
If you get on something that works, you might try gingko biloba and Viagra. They work pretty well.
I'd like to be the scientist that hopefully develops a med that will sidestep sexual side effects and is a kick ass AD. You think Prozac generated sales?!!

Phil

I haven't tried serzone, but I have tried Remeron which did nothing for me. I have also tried Reboxetine, and it did work quite well for my depression -- and it started working very quickly, which is a major bonus! As for the heart pounding, I did get that (as well as an almost recreational head buzz) the first two nights that I took it, but these effects quickly subsided. I strongly suggest that you give reboxetine another go, and try and get through a week of taking it (I presume you started at 4mg ?). I had no side effects (other than increased libido, which was nice, and a weird but very mild sneezing thing, which only occasionally bothered me), and like I said, it worked and worked quickly. No insomnia and I woke up in the morning refreshed, even when I had not slept enough.

This is the million dollar question and major issue in my life. I've been on everything. I had no sexual side effects on...

Sam-e

imipramine

nortriptyline

lamictal (but I'm about to go off it due to chronic headache. I'm told that's rare)

? moclobemide - I was on this and I don't remember sexual side effetcts. But it also didn't do anything for my depression.

My hope now is imipramine, but it remains to be seen if that can treat my depression on its own. Right now i am doing well with no sexual side effects on a combo of sam-e, imipramine, lamictal, and a tiny bit of effexor. I'm very worried about losing the lamictal. I think it's doing a lot for me.

How much imipramine are you taking, and how long have you been taking it for? What side effects hav you noticed? Any sedation? Also, what are you taking it for - depression, OCD etc?

Thanks

I'm on 150 imipramine. I went up very slowly--10 mg a week. I've been at 150 for about a month.

I went up as slowly as I did to try and bypass side effects. I think this strategy worked. I started taking it for pain but I believe it's treating my depression which is major unipolar.

Side effects generally passed. Orthostatic hypotension is minimal. Sedation seems to have passed. Constipation manageable with diet. Dry mouth I don't really notice. I had a heart racing feeling that passed. I'm doing well with imipramine and I couldn't tolerate nortriptyline at all.
