Hi,
I have found ALL antidepressants that I have taken to cause *hypo*mania to some degree or other. Some are just worse than others. I haven't tried anafranil or modafinil(yet), or MAOI's. But, Effexor has been the worst one for hypomania of all that I have tried. Wellbutrin *can*, but not like Effexor-whew!

From what I've read and heard from my dr & others, any antidepressant CAN cause mania, but that doesn't mean it will.

HI,
I'm on a mood stabilizer (Depakote), so I don't experience any hypomania with ADs. I'm on Wellbutrin and Effexor. However, alone these two would make me high as a kite.
