Just noting a peculiar (and delightful) little phenomenon: now that I've been on Remeron, 60mg a day, for a few months, I've noticed that I can smoke pot and experience a great high (with very little psychedelia). I used to get paranoia, feelings of self-loathing, etc when I smoked. I would go "into my zone". Not anymore.
After some investigation, I learned that Remeron blocks the receptors associated with marijuana's undesirable side-effects. So, all you mirtazapine users, toke up and enjoy!

I have been searching the internet for years, and this is the first post I have found specifically addressing remeron and pot. Please consider what I am telling you: Remeron and pot caused PERMANENT damage to my circulatory system. You MUST stop one or the other.
At first, I loved the high of combined pot and remeron,too. But after afew weeks, I started to get a strange vascular sensation, combined with severe chest pains whenever I smoked. At first, it went away when I stopped smoking, but after afew months of this,
the chest pains were too bad, and I stopped remeron, but the problem never went away. Five years later, I am still plagued by this problem, and even caffeine gives me chest pains. DO NOT COMBINE REMERON AND MARIJUANA. If you can't stop smoking pot, find a new antidepressant.
I combined pot with many of the typical SSRIs without serious side effects, so try them, or serzone if you have trouble sleeping. But, for god's sake, I don't want what happened to me to happen to someone else.
If you do chose to continue to smoke pot while you're on remeron, I would like very much to hear from you once the chest pains start. My email is gunduntop@hotmail.com. You said you found out something about how Remeron blocks certain receptors that cause undesirable side effects with pot.
Please tell me where you found this information, as it may bring me one step closer to finding a cure for my own affliction.
Also, I have also found one other person who experienced chest pains with this combination. She was smart enough to stop before it did permanent damage.Peter

I have chest pains aswell, however mine have been prevalent all my life because I was born with a heart condition. For me, being prescribed Remeron and not enjoying the messed up dreams that usually come with it, smoke pot to have limited, immemerable, or nonexistent dreams. I can not say whether or not my condition has worsened because the pains come and go at random and for years before both smoking and being on Remeron, I suffered for days to have it go away for years to last again for weeks or months. It is a random event that plagues me and to this day I have not found any common denominators or similarities in what triggers these episodes.
An example includes that it happens while at rest and when active including various levels of physical stress so it isn't a physically stimulated trigger. Happens with or without various stimulants and sedatives. Happens with or without alcohol. With or without mental or psychological stress. Happens at random times throughout the day. With or without food and drink. In all temperatures and climates. Among many other possible triggers. There are far too many to list that I have ruled out but these seem to be the most common triggers for chest pain and mine happens with or without all of them.
The only thing I can confirm is that when I am High and have an episode, the pain is "intensified" and located more around my heart and the way it beats (strongly, strained, feels like its being squeezed and expanded at the same time past its normal limits). I normally have a high tolerance for pain so I can only assume the Marijuana simply neutralizes my tolerance and what I am feeling is just what normal people with normal tolerance feel.
Completely from my perspective so anything is possible. Just including my account for informative purposes.

I envy you.
I have come across a study that says if Cannabidiol equals THC, you can smoke paranoia free.
There would be no increased risk of psychosis if CBD=THC.
Let me see if i can search for it.
