Hello, i just want to post a few things about these two. Nothing in the world helps my anxiety that of ghb and xanax. I could see why such are addictive. Both act very quickly and withdrawls from each are horrible. From my experience, iv been on ghb and xanax for 1 yr. When i stop xanax, i withdrawl, more so physical withdrawls such as twitching, seeing trails, numbness, blurry vision, confusion. Now this is at a dose of .5mg-1mg. GHB withdrawls, are more mental, such as parinioa, doom feeling, excitibility.
My question is, due to the fact ghb and xanax are very short acting, how does withdrawls cause seizure activiity, is this gaba releated?geno

XANAX and GHB stimulate or intensify the effect of the brains major inhibitory neurotransmitter GABA (reduces activity of many other brain cells). Receptors adapt to the presence of the drug and therfore decrease in density. Then when you stop the drug the net effect is awhole lot more brain activity because it takes time for the downregulated GABA receptors to upregulate again. The resulting overactive brain accounts for the withdrawal syndrome and the potential for seizures. This is manageable however uncomfortable.
