Effexor breastfeeding?!?

Posted by yo-wazzzup on June 26, 2001, at 15:30:49

All the research I've done on Effexor(I'm Pretty sure that's what I'm bein' switched too next week as I'm coming off Paxil) indicates not recomended 4 nursing Moms. That's what the same resourses say about Paxil & I was/am nursing w/that in my system. Any one heard of or had personal experience with Effexor/nursing? I really don't want to stop nursing :o( But I don't want to crack up neither(sigh)
THAKX in advance for any feed back.

Thank u 4 the link. I phoned MOTHER RISK here in Canada, it's a program / Study the toronto Hosp. 4 sick kids (I believe) has...they say the cross over in breastmilk for Paxil is 2%. That sounds minute but, we're talking about tiny vulnerable developing brains here. What does 2% of 20mg. of Paxil do to a 5 & 1/2 lb. baby? (He's 15lbs. now, almost 8 months old)
LONG TERM EFFECTS? Does anyone know the cross over % for effexor? I'll phone mother risk if I have to, but it is long distance & they put u on hold for 10 minutes before taking the call. I can't help but worry I've done something horrible to my baby by breastfeeding him. I only wanted what I thought would be best. I had several professionals assure me it was safe. Did they REALLY know?
