Cam,
I have a question for you. The only complaint I have about xanax use is that at some points during my usage I have had palpatations...I am very heart phobic so this is a panic trigger for me. I am on an ace inhibitor zestril at the lowest dose 2.5 per day. Could not take cardizem because it gave me pac's or pvc's. Had the complete heart work up echo 2d ekg everthing is o.k. If I up my dosage of zestril to 5 mg I almost get a heart calming effect. I am wondering if ace inhibitors have anti axiety properties. I would prefer to be on more zestril and less xanax. Also the one good thing about the prozac it kept my heart running like a swiss watch didn't seem to get adrenaline rushed heart rates. Could hardly feel my pulse while on Prozac. But even at 2.5 mg prozac a day my sex life suffered too much. Why does the prozac effect heart rate that way. Do you think if I asked my internest to up the zestril dosage it could have a heart calming effect. P.S. I know beta bloockers do this but the beta blocker I tried 4 years ago Lopressor made me comletely impotent ....without the benfits of prozac.
Sorry lots of questions but you know I am always searching for the best mix.
Thanks,
Gil

Gil - I haven't heard of ACE-inhibitors acting as anxiolytics, like the ß-blockers do. I do remember once that we had a guy referred to our clinic with mood swings (crying, then angry, then crying). They thought he could be bipolar, but when the pdoc took him off of the Zestril™ (lisinopril or Prinivil™) the mood swings stopped.
Hope this info is of some use. - Cam
