Hi -
I think I asked this same question awhile ago, but thought I'd throw it out there again ...I am gettig mixed reviews about whether St. John's Wort and Wellbutrin can mix. (Clinical nutritionist says no, phsychiatrist says yes.)
Any experience out there on this combo?
Thanks in advance for your input.

When in doubt, enter in the medications on the Drug Checker at www.drkoop.com

Thanks, Sal!
How do you know so much? Are you part of the administration here? Just curious -- you have a wealth of knowledge when it comes to this stuff.

> -cindyYes they can be mixed. I would not combine SJW with an MAO inhibitor, but just about anything else is ok to try. My local doc routinely allows patients to combine SJW with their psychiatric drugs if so desired.
If you do, start low and go slow. Don't start with the normal daily dose of three pills. Instead, start with one a day and work your way up as tolerated.

SJW ain't a toy. I know someone who drank a Sobe (or some such commercial bottled tea) containing it and had a manic episode requiring hospitalization as a result. Since it's not been fully tested and it's mechanism of action not known, I'd avoid it.
