I just started taking Effexor XR, 37,5mgs.
I did not sleep well lst night and this morning and now, I have a case of jitters. It's sort of like a bit too much coffee. Anyone else with this effect? My doctor thinks this med will help me concentrate on my chores/job/house and stop me from dwelling on my being overwhelmed by too much stuff. Clutter, work and family.

It's a very common side effect and should dissipate over time.

Thank you for your email.
So far it is only the second day. I have done more today because I seemingly have more energy and I'm better focused on things I need to actually do, and complete more of them instead of being overwhelmed and doing less. We'll see how it goes. But it almost feels like a touch of speed. Check out the lengthy first sentence!Did the meds make you a little light headed?

> Did the meds make you a little light headed?Yes, Effexor made me a little lightheaded when I was taking it, but there have been several that have done that. Several ADs in different classes also have left me feeling caffeinated or on speed. It's not just Effexor. But as I said, this usually wears off. Sometimes the side effects are too intense for some folks to bear and they try something else. Everyone's mileage varies. Good luck!

On the 3rd day now...well this stuff does not let me sleep the night through...I was up at 2:30AM and crashed for 1 or 1.5 hours until my kids were up. Tonight I'll take a 10mg Sonata to help.
I have a little more energy this AM. Things are clearer looking. Can't really explain. Sort of like a veil has lifted. More aware.
Still, this evening after all my running around, I'm beat. It might be just from the lack of a good nights sleep. Still a little spacy/dizzy...not as much as the day before. Hopefully that effect will disipate.
How was your stomach during the first week?
I really do appreciate your help here.
Best regards,
Terry

Terry,
I didn't have stomach problems. When I complained to my pdoc about the caffeinated feeling, he suggested I eat little snacks here and there throughout the day as I found I felt more caffeinated in late morning and late afternoon. I would eat carrot sticks or a few Triscuit crackers.
I hope the Sonata helps. What time do you take the Effexor? Morning?
Best,
Allison
