Celexa Anger

Posted by Maggie on October 10, 2000, at 15:07:58

Has anyone heard of someone developing EXTREME ANGER,
irritability and irrationality from Celexa (or maybe
any of the SSRI's)?
I was astounded at the change in my behavior when I
started Celexa 20mg, then increased to 40mg (after
which things got worse...SOOOO angry I hardly
recognized myself).
After 1 week, I lowered the dose, then got off of it
entirely. The anger slowly decreased as well.
Of course, there is the withdrawal syndrome present.
YUCK!!!

yes, i had a similar response to zoloft, but i was 14 when i first started taking it, and no one stopped to think about why i had gotten so aggressive. i guess everyone (including myself), took my confrontational, angry behavior to be a normal part of adolescence. i took it for 7 yrs! after intermittently taking it for about a year, i finally decided i didn't like the way i was feeling. i stopped taking the zoloft and all of a sudden, my personality was what it should have been all through my adolescence: a calm, caring, nonconfrontational person. i too tried celexa recently, and i had the same response. i stay away from SSRI's due to such reactions, you may want to try serzone: it didn't have the rage effect for me. good luck!
