Three cheers for Zyprexa!!!

Posted by kerry B on July 14, 2000, at 17:40:25

This is really a wonder drug!!!! Three weeks ago I was ready to throw in the towel but now, because of zyprexa, I feel so much better, more energy, my thinking is a little better (still have momentary memory loss) but that will improve I'm sure, and all my creativity has returned, as a matter of fact, no-one can stop me!!!! I'm on a roll!!!!!
I feel like I've been released from a covered cage that was getting smaller and smaller each day, but now, I've flown the coop and it feels great!
Still some things to work on but, I feel I can face the probs now and get back into life!!!!
Thanks Zyprexa!!!!!!! and thank you guys for putting up with me!!!!!!!!

Kerry

Wow, Kerry! How long have you been taking Zyprexa? It seems to have started to work real fast.

That is great news.

Hi noa,
It must be two weeks if I'm right or very close to it. I have been getting up early the past few mornings which is very unusual for me and actually enjoying it. I guess what also helped was not having the kids around to look after so I could concentrate on myself a bit and sort some stuff out.
I have felt so good (maybe it's just the manic side) that I have spring cleaned even though it is winter and done some painting! and it feels good!!
I don't feel so sleepy on them anymore but I'm sure they also help me sleep better at night, that makes a difference also.
Started my post traumatic shock treatment yesterday which was really positive and I really got on well with the woman doing it, so that is another plus for me. The tests she did showed positive to the disorder but with her help I should be able to get through it no matter how tough it is.
So that's my story up till now. Hope you are going well too. We haven't had much contact lately
but I want to thank you for all your help. Keep me posted!!!
Bye for now,

Kerry

Kerry,

Glad you gave the Zyprexa another try (You did try it once before, didn't you?) I know that Zyprexa is the one drug that did the most to get my mind working more clearly. I really notice it if I miss more than one dose so I know that it is still working for me after more than a year. Hope it continues for you as well
Chris

Kerry,
That is wonderful!

Though it stirs up some controversy, I've come to believe that the correct med will work fairly fast. Regardless, whatever your chemistry is, it sure seems to like the Zyprexa molecule! :-)

I'm curious. How did you find out about Zyprexa? Was it your doctor's idea? Your idea? Someone else's idea? How did you come to try Zyprexa? Why was it chosen and not something else?

Just curious. When you get a chance.

Until then, three cheers...1 for zyprexa, 1 for your doctor, and one for you!
John

Hi Chris,
Thanks for the positive feedback! Yes, I did try it once before and I think I stopped it as I didn't like the "tired" feeling it gave me, but this time, I've hung in there and got over that and it is doing wonders for me. I feel so good again after weeks of confusion and depression.
Thanks again!!!

Kerry

Hi John,
About the zyprexa, just over a year ago, the psych doctor I had then put me onto them as I had tried everything else, I had just gone off risperidal due to bad side effects, so he gave me zyprexa to try. I stayed on them for about a week then stopped taking them as I didn't like the tiredness that they made me feel so just stayed on lithium.
Funny though, I kept the boxes of zyprexa, and put them away and forgot about them and it wasn't until my health team worker came to visit me during my recent episode, that I mentioned them to him and he advised me to go off the stelazine as it wasn't agreeing with me and take the zyprexa.
I'm sure glad I had them. I have taken them morn and night for about two weeks now, am just getting over the tiredness and feel great. Wow, if only I had stuck with them in the first place I probably wouldn't have had to go through what I've just experienced! I'll stick with them this time, I can asure you that!!!!! Still on the lithium though as well. Just wondering, I know lithium makes you thirsty but do the zyprexa as well? Just wondering as I fell my mouth is drier than ever. Thanks for the 3 cheers!!!
Just in response to body chemistry, mine doesn't seem to tolerate much as with all the drugs they've tried me on, I always seemed to get the worst side effects, that's why I have tried so many that I can't even remember half of them.
At one stage, I felt like a walking pharmacy with all these pills rattling around inside me!!!!!
Thanks again John,

Kerry

Kerry,

Cool story. Too bad it took so long to find the right med when it was right there the whole time! I can sure relate to that!

Curious, though, one more time. You mentioned you take your Zyprexa morning and night. What size dose in the morning? What time? What size dose in the evening? What time?

Next to Adrafinil, I think Zyprexa was one of the best meds I ever tried. And thus my interest in more detail.
Thanks!
John

Hi John,
Just got your post and I'm siting here waiting for the sun to rise. Actually watched an eclipse last night, cool stuff, every other time it's been too cloudy to see anything.
Anyway, about my zyprexa dosage, I take 5mg in the morning about 10.00am (thats when I start getting motivated) and also with that take 500mg of lithium and 5mg diazepam then my next dose of Z.... is around 10pm at night, the same, 5 mg plus another 500mg of lithium. oops! actually forgot my meds last night!!!!
I have found in the last two weeks or so I have put on weight. It seems that I have more of an appetite since taking the zyprexa and have developed a sweet tooth which is unlike me. Are you on zyprexa and did this happen to you?
Just curious!!!
I also find since taking them that I sleep so much better, I actually sleep the whole night through without waking up at all, is this an added bonus from them? I wish I had of kept on them all that time ago!!!!!!
Oh well, it,s all experience!!!!! Going to go now and have a peaceful cup of tea, the sun is rising and the birds are singing and it's so nice!!!!
Have a good day!!!!!

Kerry B
