Anon Person - Thank you for your kind donation to Dr.Bob's website in memory of my daughter, Suzanne. Really, it was not necessary, but it was really nice of you.
My dad won't be able to make it back to Canada for Suzanne's funeral, as he is stuck on his boat at an island in the South Pacific called Niui (only once a week flights to Tongo). So, he has set up a bursary (memorial fund?) in Suzanne's name to go to a 1st year nursing student at the college my daughter was attending.
Thank you to everyone for your condolences. I will respond to them next week. You guys are the best!
Love - Cam.

Cam,
If there has been a fund set up for Suzanne, I'm sure there are many of us who would like to contribute as well. Would it be possible to provide us with an address for doing so? I know you don't think it's necessary, but I would like to honor the memory of your wonderful daughter in some way. Send it to my e-mail if you don't feel comfortable posting it here.Suzanne has been in my prayers every night, and I feel somehoe more at ease knowing that your angel is sitting on my shoulder.
God bless you,

> GregThanks Greg - We haven't chosen a name for the bursary (scholarship?), yet. We still haven't even figured out the qualifications, except that it will go to a 1st year nursing student. We don't want it to go to a needy student, as many scholarships have this requirement. If anyone has an interesting idea for a requirement, your input would be greatly appreciated. Please do not feel obligated to contribute to this memorial.
Instead, you could donate to your local SPCA (ASPCA) or a children's charity (Suzanne was great with kids and animals) or to this website (this would help us all out).
The address for Suzanne's Memorial is:
Suzanne Washington Memorial
c/o Grant MacEwen Community College Foundation

Perhaps you can designate it for a student who has shown outstanding courage in succeeding against the odds of a disability. Or who has demonstrated excellence in community service.

Noa's idea is great!
Building upon that, I must say I am always impressed by the works (and efforts!)of Lauren Slater and Kay Redfield Jamison. Perhaps a student (a returning student?) overcoming bipolar or other issues which caused them to leave or delay their schooling? Just a thought.
Noa,
I hope you are doing well. I fully support your decision to take a break, just know I (and all of us here!) miss your thoughts and warm insights. You (and Cam) are both in my thoughts, when I can fit something inbetween my own 'tapes of drivel' :)

I love Noa's idea on community service. Perhaps a Girl Scout/Girl Guide that has gotten a Gold Award for helping others and wishes to continue in nursing. Or maybe someone who has volunteered as a teenager at a hospital. (pink ladies?) These are teens that show a real desire to help others. Something that will benefit the many lives they will touch 5 years down the road!

Cam, maybe the scholarship could go to students who are willing to meet requirements of doing a certain amount of volunteer work among people who would otherwise have no access to medical care at all.
I read an article once about a very small town that financed a man's medical degree on the condition that he set up his practice in that town, because they could not find any doctors willing to live there.
Just some thoughts. Also, I've not had the chance to drive by the accident site at dark, daylight lasts so long here. But, I've put the word out among friends, so hopefully will be able to find out about the crossing lights for you.
My love to all of you, CarolAnn
