I know 400mg/day (200mg x twice daily) is the standard max dosage for wellbutrin sr. But I am wondering if anyone is taking 400+mg/day? If anyone is, I am curious how much more?
Both in terms of how much is taken in a single dose (as opposed to two doses per day) and on a per/day basis?
Also, how long have you tried it, and any comments on your experience?
(I've been up to the 400mg/day dose in the past, w/o much effect)
Thanks.

I have taken 200mg 3xday (600mg/day) and it did have an initial benefit. The simulatory effect helped me but after a couple months it dropped back to the usual effect.
I thought about a stimulant for a while, always have suspected ADD because of a lifetime of feeling like a "retarded genius". So I've dropped the well to 400 and added ritalin at 20mg sr 2xday. The rit does nothing for my depression, but my concentration on reading, (not having to re-read paragraphs because I was thinking of something else) has improved a lot. Also, I am more comfortable around people, I can hold a train of thought long enough to carry on a conversation.
I also take 20mg celexa a day, which along with the well, helps depression. I feel that reboxetine would help me also.

Michael - In Canada the maximum dose of Wellbutrin is 300mg/day (150mg twice daily). We only have the SR variety up here. The reason for this is due to the seizure potential. At 300mg daily the rate of seizures is 0.4%, at 450mg it is 1%, and at 600mg it is 4%. The risk is increased if you are taking meds that lower seizure threshold (eg older antipsychotics like Chlorpromazine) and decreased if you are taking drugs that increase seizure threshold (eg anticonvulsant/mood stabilizers like Divalproex). The risk of seizure isn't that great, but I have seen it twice and this was in people taking the older antipsychotics (one was Chlorpromazine-Largactil and the other was Trifluoperazine-Stelazine). I have also seen people take these drugs with Wellbutrin and have no problems, though. - Cam W.

Wake up, lunch, bed time? Every 8 hours? My doc always made a big deal of never taking the next dose within 8 hours of the previous dose.
And were you too, using the SR formulation?
Thanks.

Hi Michael,
Sorry I don't have the time to check the board everyday.
I was taking the Well every 8 hours, approximately, and yes it is the SR. (I'm still on 400 mg)
