Dietary Restrictions for MAOI's indicate that yeast extracts should be avoided.
Does anyone have information about yeast extracts and hypertensive crisis? Specifically, can small amounts of yeast extracts be tolerated without causing a hypertesive crisis?

My doctor mentioned this one as one of those certifiably bad things to consume (unlike many other supposed "forbidden foods") while taking an MAOI by conventional methods. I doubt you would get much out of it at the doses it would require to be harmless. I guess marmite is right out. I'm not sure about vegemite (not a yeast extract per se, but plenty yeasty and fermented).
Frankly, having tried vegemite on toast, I don't need any excuse to stay away ;).
