> Maybe you, greywolf, didn't grow up in a disfunctional abusive household and you enjoy the pleasant privilege of not having to recognize common patterns of oppression when you see them. For those of us educated in youth how to deploy these devices, they are as evident as the meaning of any other language.
**** Just so you know, I grew up in an extremely dysfunctional household, although that shouldn't matter in my opinions. I can recognize quite well when something someone is saying is not right or fair. I think that Babble is dedicated to fairness, albeit somewhat misguided at times. I think the deputies just enforce the rules Bob has made, and while there is always an element of subjectivity to enforcing rules, they do a darn good job!

you made me laugh. I should have just let Greywolf do the talking, I should not post while my brain is spinning like a top for reasons that have nothing to do with babbble.
Sort of like the P.W.D reason except there are too many letters to make an abbreviation.I usually feel bad for those with no friends too, but sometimes when they are my mom...it's hard.
Do we HAVE TO go to Mcdonalds?

I really laughed out loud at that.
And you know I'm going to use it now, watch me, I really will.. because good intentions aside, *sigh* undoubtedly it will happen again.

More information regarding what is and isn't allowed here can be found in the FAQ, at http://www.dr-bob.org/babble/faq.html#civil
Any follow ups to this should themselves be civil, and Dr Bob may choose to adjust this deputy action.

If you're thinking of replying to that please take time out to step away from the computer and think carefully about how you word your post. I'm sure you know the next penalty for further incivility is a week long block, and personally I'd like to hear more of your views expressed as eloquently and civilly as I know you can.

P.S. ((((Aunt Virginia))) I'm sorry to hear you grew up in an abusive household - I know what that feels like.

I remember when we did not have deputies. If I recall the board was just fine.
I think it would be the same of the deputies left...
Being some state they feel bad being deputies from my point of view, it would be best for them to leave then. Why do they want to be deputies anyhow if it hurts them so much?

I think it is good ....to take care of yourself. I support your taking a long break
> And the support, of course. To everyone who has expressed support for deputies or me, thank you. It helps a great deal.
>
> So this is what procrastination gets me... Last weekend I decided to take a leave from working as a deputy, since Babble has been taking time away from something quite important to me. I realized that the time I spent during the day was not inline with my goals, so I have to make a change. I wanted to let the other deputies and Dr. Bob know ahead of time, and I didn't get those messages written and sent before I wandered knee-deep into another conflict.
>
> So here's my official notification: I am taking a leave as a deputy as of tomorrow morning. I expect to this to last a minimum of two months. I'd like to say I'll still post for myself during that time, but I don't know how that will work out. I'm thinking at the moment it might be too distracting.

You were asked to be civil under a different name, so I'm going to block this name, consider the length of your previous block tripled, and delete follow-ups to this post.
But please don't take this personally, this doesn't mean I don't like you or think you're a bad person.
If you or others have questions about this or about posting policies in general, please first see the FAQ:

Hi everyone,
I've decided not to return from deputy leave, effective immediately. I've informed the other deputies and Dr. Bob already. I haven't decided what I want to do about continuing to post and whether I will keep the name gardenergirl or change to something else. If you don't see posts from gg again, please don't worry about me. It likely wouldn't mean that anything was wrong. You can still get in touch with me via babblemail or email: gardenergirl 88 at g mail dot com or at yahoo dot com.
Thanks
gg
If anyone wants to dance in celebration, please limit your parties to the hours of eight a.m. EDT until eleven p.m. EDT. I get cranky if noise keeps me up at night. ;)

If I ever want to finish school, I've got a couple big projects to get through. Which means I have to give up a few things that take up my time. Right now if it's not related to school or family, it's got to be back-burner.
I pretty much had already decided this when I first took leave. I guess I thought I could ease my way out, lol.
So it's all good. I just finally got around to actually taking the steps to "cut the cord".
Thanks,
gg

Deputy GG, your wisdom and wit will be missed!
I was quite a blubbering mess when I decided to leave, as much of a relief as it was. I hope that yours is easier and the source of freedom and some happy dancing on your own end.
Personally, I'm sitting this one out.Scratchpad

No celebration here at all.
I understand completely. Babble takes up far too much of my time and emotional capital as well.
But I am so sad to lose you. I'll so miss your wisdom and clear thinking. And I have *never* known anyone to be more thorough in comparing what was written to the FAQ's and what has historically been allowed and so scrupulous about not allowing your personal feelings to influence your administrative actions. I especially admire your willingness to make hard decisions when you have to, because I know that that's one of the hardest parts of being a deputy to me.
You have been a fine and just deputy, and I will miss you so much in that capacity.
