While I am well studied on Lyme, I am not very well studied on the usage of CBD in lyme.
But anecdotal stories sound impressive. I've heard rumors of CBD curing psychiatric conditions, curing mystery diseases, or at least improving quality of life, and I've even heard of terminal cancer cases being reversed with CBD. It can shrink tumors. So there is definitely some medical potential there, if you ask me.
Most of the evidence is anecdotal. If we wait for confirmation by the scientific community, that may take 20 years or more or may never happen at all.
I am all for trying various tools, especially when our first-line tools have disappointed. So my vote is go-for-it!

> to treat schizo lyme depression what i am suffering from
You really don't know that your depression is due to Lyme Disease. Current laboratory tests are of limited value. Since you wish to explore Lyme treatments, taking doxycycline for a few months shouldn't hurt. Lyme can cause a large range of psychiatric symptoms.
How long did you take minocycline for? Why did you stop taking it? I forget.
What is the incidence of Lyme Disease where you live or have traveled (epidemiology)?
In the USA, Lyme Disease occurs at a rate of less than 1% of the general population [1], although it differs greatly regionally. The percentage of Lyme cases that present with depression is 26% to 66% [2]. At 50%, this yields a number of 1 in 2000 people.
I know that you are desperate. I don't blame you for trying different things. I would, too. Don't give up.

CBD might help.
Research on the use of CBD in psychiatry is sparse and equivocal. However, there is some literature to be found on Medline that describes its possible efficacy in treating mood, anxiety, and psychotic disorders. You don't have to have Lyme Disease in order for CBD to work.
Will your doctors get CBD for you? I always wondered how you were able to experiment with so many drugs in an inpatient setting.

There is not enough science or experience with CBD to make any armchair quarterback predictions.
You just have to try it.
You also have to find out for yourself what doses you need. One person might need a half a dropper 6 times a day while someone else might need 4 full droppers 8 times a day while someone else needs just 1 dropper at bedtime. Whatever your dose is, is something only you can discover in your own experimenting.
As I've said before, if you cannot get 3 antibiotics at the same time, then Doxy is going to hurt you in the long run more than it helps you in the short run. It will force surviving Borellia into their cystic form and then you will predictably be worse than you are now. This topic touches upon one of the reasons Lyme treatment is often inadequate in America.
In my first year of treatment I made this same mistake. My first couple days were improved, but the remainder of the year was as bad as ever. It did not turn the corner until I added a second antibiotic. And remission was not possible until there was a third. That's because the bacteria can morph into 3 different forms when under threat. Each form responds to a different ABX. One ABX will not cover all of them. Except for garlic. Too bad it stinks so bad. I stunk up a whole section of Walmart once when I was taking raw garlic. But it was the first anti-depression and anti-anxiety and peace I had experienced in quite a while, years.

That's a great idea. Which three antibiotics are recommended?
How long are they to be taken?

Bleaberry are you saying raw garlic is as effective as taking those three antibiotics?
I have no problem eating a raw garlic a day (or how many?) if that's the case (for Bartonella)!
I've lost so many relationships to this condition I've decided to stay away from women till I fix myself so I have no issues with my breath stinking.

I haven't seen you this optimistic before. I hope you continue to make gains. You deserve it.
How is your appetite? Sleep?
Where are you at with the CBD/THC ratio?

I tried eating raw garlic for a few weeks in 1984. I was an exercise instructor at the time. The facility was a big building with racquetball courts. The whole building reeked of me. It didn't help with my depression, unfortunately. Is garlic an antibiotic? I really don't know. I imagine it drives the bacteria out of the body as they try to escape the smell. No Herxheimer reaction!

My sleep is ok. It's not perfect, but ok.
The greatest improvement is in the free floating, anxiety and mood.
I probably take 2-3x as much CBD as THC. The THC has more effect on anhedonia.
I'm no longer taking venlafaxine. I take lithium, and some mirtazapine.

This contains 400mg of total CBD. Many studies use higher doses, but I have found benefit from lower doses 10-20mg a day.
At the moment, CBD is pricy, but I am hoping that it comes down in price and/or moves to a synthetic prescription.

Here's what I know about garlic.
It is a powerful antimicrobial against a wide variety of gram positive bacteria, gram negative bacteria, viruses and yeast/fungus. You can surf the library of science or other scientific study sources and see long lists of microbes impacted by garlic.
The antimicrobial power is in the stink. Odorless garlic supplements claim to work but they don't. If you buy one and try it, you will feel absolutely nothing by the time you finish the bottle.
Dr.Zhang in NYC (a lyme and hepatitis doctor) makes a product called Allicin Capsule. That was my first experience. I took 2 capsules 3 times a day. Within one week I felt better than I had felt in a very long time. There was a long way to go. But the point is, one week in I felt more from garlic than I did from a backpack of medicines. The problem at the time was that I worked in a big box store and I was literally stinking up entire aisles or sections of the store and it stayed stinky for an hour after I was gone!
To metabolize the allicin correctly, raw garlic is supposed to be eaten toward the end of a meal, not the beginning. I don't know how to dose it. If it were me I would probably start with one or two cloves per day and then adjust from there after I see how it goes.
I don't know if there is some way to equate the amount of allicin in the Zhang Allicin Capsules to how much allicin is in a clove of garlic. Maybe.Dr. Zhang uses a variety of herbs against lyme and hepatitis but allicin/garlic is one of his primary first-line heavy hitters.
Bartonella is tough. There aren't any antibiotics specifically effective against it, though various combinations are. For example the combo Doxycylcine/Rifampin is known as a Bartonella cocktail. I am on that right now actually. Doxy 400mg per day - either 200mg bid or 400mg once. Rifampin 300mg bid.
Herbal treatment for bartonella is also tough - it requires cocktails and high doses and time. I'm not even sure total eradication is possible. The goal, however, is not total eradication. The goal is to simply reduce their population to low numbers so that you don't have symptoms - co-exist.
In the Healing Lyme book there are a variety of herbs used in combinations against bartonella. Combos of stuff such as japanese knotweed, houttunyia, Bacall Chinese skullcap, and others.
The most potent anti-Bartonella and anti-Babesia substance I have ever encountered is called C.S.A. Formula, available online only from a company called Woodland Essence. When I finish my antibiotics, I am going to chase them for a few months with CSA Formula just to make sure it's all mopped up.
From naturopaths or integrative M.D.s you can buy a product called A-Bart. My LLNP says she has had good success with it. I think CSA Formula is way better.
NOW brand makes a product called Garlic Oil which I have used and is potent. A serving is 3 capsules which is equivalent to 4500mg of whole clove garlic. Dosing is experimental from one person to the next. I have taken as much as 6 capsules 3 times a day. That gets pretty stinky. :-)
A side benefit is that any of these garlic approaches - or CSA formula - will knock out the common cold or flu really fast.

Hey Jaroen,
You'll have to do some math to figure out how much CBD is in each drop.
Figure out the how many mL are in one syringe (usally 1mL). Figure out how many drops are in one syringe (drop them back into the bottle).
Take Do 400 / volume of syringe / drops per syringe. That will give you how much CBD is in one drop.
My bottle is about 1mg per drop. I take something in the 10-20mg range (currently).

CBD can increase the level of some medications.
This could be good or bad depending on the drug.
If the blood pressure drug interacts, it might mean you can switch, it might also mean that a lower dose will work.
