I'm completly off the trileptal and have been for a week. No hypomania ... just trouble falling asleep. :-)

Yay Parnate!!

Well I haven't been on Parnate since October so the food restrictions are not fresh in my mind. NOW they are.

For supper I had half a frozen dinner of thai seitan. La,la,la, I'm trying to eat at least 200 calories for the day. BAM! It hits me, there must be soy sauce in this. Yup. So I didn't wait for a reaction and I took 50 mg of thorazine. Soy is very bad for me with Parnate. It's one of the few food rules I have to observe.

So now I am going to remain more aware.

I think I am going to go back down to 20 mg instead of the 30 mg. I feel jittery and some other side effects as well.

Good idea, don't go as fast as I did...I probably weigh twice as much as you, or more.
Hey Maxi, One of these days I'll have to share my "Parnate Song" with you...it's pretty silly, but fun. :)

Parnately yours,

Tyler :)

ey maxime I hope you the best and please if possible dont make the same mistake I did. I only tried Parnate 4 days. I was used that medicines ike Nardil took 3 or 4 days to kick in
, but this time took like 3 weeks ! . That give me a little bit of hope on trying Parnate again

Good luck !

Hi Maxie

Have you recovered from the soy sauce yet? Hope so :)

Please be cautious with your Parnate dose. You still have some Prozac in your system. Side effects are likely if you increase the Parnate too fast.

Love

Ever notice that the inscription on a Parnate tab looks like a cyclops happy face from a distance?

Why did your doc choose Thorazine w/ Parnate instead of Nifedipine?

Also - you mentioned eating 200 calories. You need to be very, very careful with anorexia nervosa and Parnate. It is no joke. Back in October, Parnate's appetite-suppressing & amphetamine-like effects triggered a relapse into anorexia for me. I lost weight very rapidly (& began abusing the drug - upping the dose when the "speed-like" effect wore off). One night, I developed very severe orthostatic hypotension with syncope. I could not stand up and, when I tried, had a seizure. My blood pressure was so low that I should not have been alive. The doctor told me that this was the direct result of taking Parnate and being at a very low weight & engaging in restricting behavior. Please be careful.

Hum, i have now serious doubts about the skills and judgement of her psychiatrist. Our beloved friend has a serious eating disorder, OD once on Parnate and she's not compliant with her medication. I don't feel at ease with that situation. Am i alone?

I don't know why. Is Nifedipine better?

Oh boy, it's going hard with the eating. But I never lost weight on Parnate before.

Hi

Well I backed down to 10 mg today. I think I will stay at that for a few days before going up to 20 mg or 30 mg. I've waited this long, I might as stay safe.

nifedipine or Thorazine (chlorpromazine)

My doc is going to give me Thorazine for hypertensive crisis too Maxime. I have heard conflicting information on nifedipine v. chlorpromazine. I figure chlorpromazine is just fine though, so long as it works. It's not like it's something one takes on a regular basis...

looking forward to my Parnate happy pills (next week!)

Good plan Maxime. I feel bad that I kind of encouraged a more aggressive start, I'm sorry. Just take it slow and easy...it'll work. :)

I took 20 mg today and felt no side effects. Already people are telling me that I sound more upbeat on the phone. That's a good sign.

I know it's only going to get better!
