So sorry, really sorry you are having soooo much anxiety. You really need to get that under control. The only AD I ever took that helped w/ anxiety is Effexor-XR. Did you take it? Did it help? You cannot go on 24/7 anxiety. Someone needs to help you find something to slow what sounds like is out of control. It sounds so bad to me, I worry, do you think maybe you should go to an ER (as much as they are hard to handle)? I don't know what are your circumstances, your age, your support people. Your body is alerting you to a 'stress overload'. You've got to have help to get that awful constant anxiety under control. I pray 37.5 Effexor-XR will help you. If you can take a few days more of this ... this is the one AD for anxiety. I am inclined to suggest a benzo might be necessary for you. Have you given that any thought? You are in my thoughts and prayers, cf

Dr. Bob, when you say double double quotes I think of ""blah"". To me that looks like double double quotes.
When Winddancer, I guess you call it 'plugged' a book, you were showing an alternative way of posting literature to enable purchase?

There is a book, ""TELLING YOURSELF THE TRUTH"" by William Backus & Marie Chapian, that is probably the single most helpful book I have ever read.
It is about 'saying you are too weak to do a thing' ... which is not true. It is a 'how to rid yourself of negative thoughts and statements' book, by realizing you are lieing to yourself.

I do not see a link to Amazon. Huh? where am I supposed to find it. The post by cf showed double double quotes but it didn't link me to Amazon, at least as far as I could tell.I guess I don't get it - I thought there would be an indication of a link to the Amazon site, but I see none.

WINDDANCER - I think the reason you didn't see it is because Amazon did not carry either of the books. If you try it, w/ a book they have or don't have, you will see the option to link to it. If you try to link to Amazon with a book they don't have, it won't work ... others will not see it. That's why you don't. Not having a good morn' here, but think that's correct. many days later I have nottaken anything..but my daily ativan b4 I sleep tho yesterday no panic attack..I ssee shrink friday not sure what to say? would lexapro help me teh same with less side effctes? I am scaredddddddddddd ofthis effexor. i am not sure I will ever take it!

The writing is all purple and your name is blue. I'm thinking as long as the 'clickable name or word' is in a color which contrasts the rest of the writing, it is a link.

I have many of the symptoms of fibromyalgia since I've taken Effexor, but it's not been diagnosed. I've never hurt so much all over my body as I do now. And I've stopped taking Effexor for about 3 weeks. The tendonitis in my hands is excrutiating and its extremely painful to write with a pen and very uncomfortable using the computer keyboard and mouse. I even got a mouse glidepoint pad and I haven't seen any improvement. I have had SI (low back) pain and sciatica off and on for about 5 years, but now it is so bad that I finally went in and had cortisone injections along my spine. This is after an MRI shows disc degeneration. I am going in for another MRI on my neck this afternoon, to see if they can find anything causing the hand pain and tingly fingers.
My doctor who administered the spinal cortisone said that low back pain can certainly lead to depression. And my MD and others sometimes dismiss back pain as a symptom of depression and I've heard that often they will treat back pain by prescribing an anti-depressant. Interesting, isn't it.

Be careful of those cortisone injections. I had a friend who got them and one day they missed. I can't remember all the details but she was bedbound. I had a herniated disc and I refused them. It healed on it's own. The only time my back and muscle aches went away was on cymbalta. I didn't realize they were gone until I stopped the med. Fondly, Phillipa

If you don't feel a lot better by this weekend, I, personally, would ask doc about decrease dosage or d.c. In fact, call today, tomorrow, the next day, every day until the 'darn' weekends. Sorry and hope someone will help you. cf

Oh wait, today is Thur. You only have today and tomorrow to get through to your doc?? I would call now, in the morning, at noon tomorrow, and get immediate attn. Self advocate. I agree that caution is definitely merited with cortisone shots. I assured myself that I had the best doctor in the vacinity and am feeling complete relief since the shot. The dr found on the MRI a cyst that had a lot of fluid in it and was able to aspirate some of it out and said it had been pinching a nerve going down my leg. Apparently the cortisone has not had time to work yet, so my immediate relief is from the fluid removal. He does not recommend getting any more cortisone shots if this doesn't provide continuous relief, since repeated cortisone can damage tissues and shouldn't be used more than once or twice. If the pain returns, we'll need to talk about other solutions.
It's interesting that if I had not elected to go in for the shots, the fluid on the cyst would not have been addressed.
Thanks for the heads up to the list about cortisone injections around the spine being potentially dangerous. I did not enter into this procedure lightly.

I knew you wouldn't. But I just wanted to be sure. He sounds like a good doc to me. The one she saw kept giving her shots monthly until she had the bad reaction. Cyst? that's a new one. I'm glad you're feeling relief and hope the shot helps even more. Oh and my husband just remembered what happened it went to her brain. Fondly, Phillipa
